When you use Porchlight, we may collect:

- Profile information: Family details you choose to share, such as children's ages and schools attended.
- Location data: Approximate neighborhood location to connect you with nearby families. We do not store precise real-time GPS data.
- Usage data: How you interact with the app, to help us improve the experience.
- Device information: Device type and operating system for app functionality and push notifications.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the Porchlight app and services.
- Connect you with families in your school community.
- Send push notifications you opt into.
- Improve and develop the product.
- Respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
Information Sharing
Your information is shared only as follows:
- Within your school community: Your name and availability status are visible to other verified members of your school community on Porchlight.
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party services (including Supabase for infrastructure) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing privacy@porchlight.community.
Children's Privacy
Porchlight is intended for adults (parents and caregivers). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Children's information (such as ages and school grade) entered by parents is used solely to facilitate family connections within the school community.
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data storage and transmission. No system is completely secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Porchlight after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
