Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Porchlight mobile app or website (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users of Porchlight.

Description of Service

Porchlight is a community platform that connects families within school communities, enabling spontaneous social coordination. The Service allows users to indicate their availability to meet up with nearby families and to organize informal gatherings.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Porchlight account. By using the Service, you represent that you are an adult and a parent, guardian, or caregiver associated with a school community. Porchlight communities are invitation-only and school-specific.

User Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users.
  • Post false, misleading, or inappropriate content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
  • Use the Service to solicit, advertise, or promote commercial products or services.
  • Impersonate any person or entity.

Community Guidelines

Porchlight is built on the values of kindness, openness, and community. We expect all users to treat each other with respect. We reserve the right to remove users who violate these values, at our sole discretion.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Intellectual Property

All content, design, and technology in the Service is owned by Porchlight Community LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Porchlight is not responsible for any interactions, meetups, or events that occur as a result of using the Service. In-person gatherings coordinated through Porchlight are at the sole discretion and risk of the participating users. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Porchlight Community LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Modifications to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at hello@porchlight.community.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
