About Porchlight

We're meant to see who's around. Hear neighbors gathering. Walk over and join in. No numbers exchanged, no text thread, no calendar invite, no plan required.

As parents, we diligently put in the work to connect and build community, for ourselves and for our families, on top of everything else. And sometimes, despite the effort, when the time comes, we might not feel up for it. Something that used to be effortless and spontaneous has become administrative and burdensome.

Porchlight wants to change that. Send out a signal that you're around. Maybe you need to get your kids out of the house. Maybe you'd love company for lunch. A spontaneous gathering forms, easily and effortlessly.

This is how a village works. People see each other, wave each other over, and show up when it feels right, not two Thursdays from now at 4:15pm.

Porchlight is built around school communities, families connected by the schools their kids attend, whether they personally know each other or not. Because we believe loose ties and openness are what weave stronger communities. The introverts, the busy working parents, the family that just moved here, they all deserve a chance to join the hangout, not just the families with time to plan the perfect playdate.

We believe spontaneous connection is still possible. Even in a world of screens and schedules. We just need a little help finding each other.
